Furnace Installation in Philadelphia
Installing High-Performance Furnaces Since 1945
Philadelphia winters are long and cold, and a furnace that’s inefficient or unreliable makes every one of those months harder. When temperatures drop, you need a heating system suited to your home and a contractor who knows this climate. At Peters Associates, we evaluate the home, existing equipment, fuel source, and heat-distribution system before recommending a replacement.
Our NATE-certified crew installs gas and oil furnaces. We service all makes and models, so our recommendations are based on your home, not our inventory. We also consider whether the selected equipment will work with your ductwork, venting, controls, electrical service, and fuel supply.
When to Replace Your Furnace
Most furnaces last between 15 and 20 years, depending on equipment quality and how consistently the system has been maintained. As they age, furnaces lose efficiency, leading to rising energy bills, uneven room temperatures, and declining indoor air quality. If your system is over 15 years old, cycling more frequently than it used to, or requiring recurring repairs, it may be time to request a furnace replacement assessment.
Planning a replacement before a breakdown gives you time to evaluate system types, AFUE ratings, and financing options without the pressure of an emergency. A high-efficiency furnace rated at 90% or higher AFUE has a different fuel-utilization rating than a standard 80% AFUE model. Our evaluation can also account for repair history, comfort problems, equipment availability, and combustion-safety concerns.
Signs that can support a furnace replacement decision include:
- Rising energy use without a corresponding change in thermostat settings
- Uneven temperatures between rooms or floors
- Frequent cycling, recurring repairs, or unreliable operation
- Changes in dust levels or other indoor air quality concerns
- Interest in upgraded controls, including programmable and smart thermostats
Gas & Oil Furnace Options for Philadelphia Homes
Choosing a replacement involves more than selecting a brand. Fuel availability, existing venting, ductwork compatibility, comfort priorities, budget, and expected system use all affect which gas or oil furnace is appropriate for the home.
AFUE, or annual fuel utilization efficiency, indicates how much of a furnace’s fuel becomes usable heat over a heating season. An 80% AFUE furnace and a 90% or higher AFUE furnace can have different venting, condensate drainage, electrical, and installation requirements. We explain those differences before you choose equipment.
We’ve held Lennox Premier Dealer status since 2003, giving homeowners access to the Lennox product line through an authorized dealer. We don’t limit our service capability to the equipment we sell, and our technicians service every heating and air-conditioning make and model.
Our Furnace Installation Process
We begin with an upfront estimate. If you decide to move forward, we explain which systems fit your home, budget, and existing infrastructure.
Furnace Sizing & Home Assessment
Our technicians determine the right system size based on your home’s square footage and a load calculation that accounts for insulation, window area, and layout. A Manual J load calculation is a standardized method for estimating how much heating the home requires rather than relying on square footage alone. Proper furnace sizing also requires attention to the existing ductwork and distribution system.
Ductwork, Venting & Project Scope
If your existing ducts are incompatible or damaged, we can evaluate replacing them alongside the furnace while we’re already on site. The project scope may also involve venting, fuel connections, electrical components, condensate drainage, and thermostat controls, depending on the selected equipment. We explain what’s required and what’s optional before any work begins, and every installation estimate comes with upfront pricing.
Installation-Day Expectations
The scope of furnace replacement can include protecting interior surfaces, removing the old equipment, completing the necessary connections, testing system operation, reviewing controls, and cleaning the work area. Our technicians wear protective shoe coverings inside the home and explain their findings without rushing.
Philadelphia mechanical permit and inspection requirements vary according to the equipment, building, fuel type, ductwork, and overall project scope. We can explain the requirements that apply to the proposed installation rather than treating every furnace project as identical.
Furnace Replacement Financing & Payment Options
Financing is available through three programs. We also accept credit cards, ACH, and standard payment methods. When comparing proposals, consider the total project price, financing terms, equipment efficiency, warranty conditions, and maintenance requirements together.
We’re an approved NEIF contractor. Financing approval, promotional terms, eligibility, and repayment obligations depend on the provider and credit approval.
